Portraits for Therapists
.
more than a headshot
you spend over 3,000 hours learning how to listen, hold space, and guide people through their hardest seasons.
All of that training, and yet the very first doorway into your care is often just a single photo.
For most therapists, a new headshot is the last thing on the to-do list, but for your clients, it’s the first thing they see. It’s a portal! The place where they decide if you feel approachable, if they feel safe enough to reach out, and if they can picture sitting across from you in the room.
Together, we’ll make a portrait that carries the warmth, groundedness, and humanity you bring into your practice.
Individuals in Private Practice + Life Coaches
A private portrait session at your own pace, with room to feel comfortable and seen, so the final portrait feels like you.
Together we’ll create an experience that highlights the energy you bring into the room, in a location that feels right for you—studio, outdoors, or even your own office.
We’ll start with a 1:1 consultation to shape the session around your needs and help you feel prepared. Afterward, you’ll receive an online gallery to choose from, including 5 retouched portraits plus additional images to support your website and online presence..

Our team has been raving about you. Every single person repeatedly said how wonderful you were, how comfortable you made them feel, and how nice it was just to spend time with you.

I wish I could send you a voice note so you could get the true feeling of gratitude in my voice. I still believe this is the best portrait session I have had.

I've never felt more comfortable being witnessed by someone in this way, and it opened something in me I am still trying to find the words for.

The way you make such a vulnerable process feel so empowering. I cannot believe how these turned out.

about the photographer
Los Angeles, California
hi, i’m joy (they/them). i’ve been making pictures for over twenty years. portraits are still the thing that keep me going. i built my process to feel good for you and for me, because it matters that i show up with a full bucket and an open heart.
a few things about me: i’m the youngest of four but five minutes older than my twin. i pet every dog i see. i drink too much iced matcha. i’m obsessed with my nieces and whatever song i’ve got on repeat. my hair will probably be different the next time you see me.
when I work with therapists, it isn’t so different from the work you do— i’m holding space, listening deeply, noticing. whether we’re together twenty minutes or two hours, my hope is you leave feeling lighter, proud of how you showed up and maybe even excited about what we made.
